Google buttons +1

By Maria Stadtmueller. Google has rolled out the +1 button. It features in searches and enables consumers to tag the results they like so others in a Google social group can see their preferences. A group comprises all those connected to a user via a Gmail address book, and those using the Google chat feature.

“The +1 button is shorthand for ‘this is pretty cool’ or ‘you should check this out’,” says the search giant. “Click +1 to publicly give something your stamp of approval. Your +1’s can help friends, contacts, and others on the web find the best stuff when they search.”

“In addition to showing the +1 on search results, the button will also be available for Google AdWords,” says SEWO outfit Jcyber. “When you see an ad you like, you can +1 it. This does not count as a click for the advertiser. Google feels that this will be a big plus for AdWord advertisers because people will be more likely to click on an ad that their friends have already +1′d.”
